G7 Summit Releases Statement Urging Bolsonaro to Just Watch FernGully

Biarritz, France — After rejecting $22 million in pledged funds to fight the forest fires raging in the Amazon, members of the G7 summit have issued a statement urging Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro to “just watch FernGully”.

Referring to the 1992 animated film FernGully: The Last Rainforest — in which a rainforest inhabited by fairies is threatened by deforestation — French president Emmanuelle Macron stated through a translator “Look, is it the best animated film of the nineties? No, but you get a solid vocal performance from Tim Curry and an environmental message that still resonates today. And I think I have a DVD of it that my wife used to play for us in class when she was hungover.”

G7 members hoped that the pro-rainforest message would get through to Bolsonaro who has been quick to open up the Amazon for agricultural and economic development.

“Hexxus, very nasty guy,“ remarked President Trump, referring to the toxic sludge spirit of destruction from the film. “Treated me very badly in the nineties,” though he was reticent to explain what that means exactly, or if he thought Hexxus was real.

However, upon receiving viewing instructions from the G7, Bolsonaro angrily rejected Macron’s Amazon Prime password, stating that it was imperialist to assume he didn’t already have an account.

As of press time the members of the summit were frantically tweeting clips from old Captain Planet episodes to Bolsanaro on Twitter.
